This elegant, Grade 1 building was originally home to Thomas Covell, Keeper of Lancaster Castle, landlord, coroner and Justice of the Peace. Between 1776 and 1975, the house became an impressive residence for judges visiting nearby Lancaster Castle. Today there is something for everyone with beautiful period rooms, gorgeous Gillows furniture, Victorian schoolroom and Museum of Childhood. There is also a beautiful garden with new traditional games to play (croquet, boules, hula hoops) and a children's trail.
